5x number one

This week, Katy Perry became the first woman and the second artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to have five songs from a single album (Teenage Dream) reach the #1 slot. California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework and ET all made it to the number one spot, and this week Katy's latest single Last Friday Night (TGIF) took the top spot in the Hot 100 as well. The only other artist to ever accomplish this feat was Michael Jackson in the 80's with his record, Bad.

Congratulations!

Breathe - acoustic

For those of you who are not on Facebook and therefor weren't able to watch Kylie Minogue's wonderful acoustic performance of Breathe I wrote about earlier today, you're in luck! The full video was published on YouTube today, so check it out above and let me know what you think of it. I'm loving it!

Code of ethics violation

Mount Dora High School (in Florida)  has removed a veteran social-studies teacher Gerald (Jerry) Buell (pictured above) from his classroom for Facebook comments critical of gay marriage. Christopher Patton, Communications Officer for Lake County Schools said that Buell was moved to administrative duties pending the results of an investigation into a suspected code of ethics violation.

On his personal Facebook account, Buell posted a reaction to New York’s passage of homosexual ‘marriage’ saying he “almost threw up.” He also referred to homosexual unions as sinful and referred to it as part of a “cesspool” of behaviors in remarks quoted by the Sentinel.

It's a good thing this guy was suspended. Being a teacher in school means setting a good example, something this teacher clearly didn't do. If you would like to support his suspension, click here to like a petition on Facebook.

No swimming

Swimming has been banned in the Sea of Japan off Russia's Far Eastern Primorye Territory after two shark attacks in the past week have left two people hospitalized, Russian media report.

The first attack occurred Wednesday when a 25-year-old man lost both arms up to the elbow. He was hospitalized in serious condition but expected to survive, according to the report. Witnesses said the shark was about 13 feet (4 meters) long with large fins, according to the Pravda report.

The second attack occurred in a nearby area Thursday when a 16-year-old boy suffered severe wounds to his legs. The boy was hospitalized in Vladivostok, the report said. The boy's diving suit prevented the shark from taking his legs.

Authorities suspect the same Great White Shark was responsible for both attacks, according to the Pravda report.

The origin of love

I found some info on Wikipedia regarding Mika's upcoming album The Origin Of Love and I thought I'd share it with you:

The Origin of Love is the upcoming album from British singer-songwriter Mika. It will be released in
Mika worked with Greg Wells, who also produced his first two albums. The album was written at Olympic Stdius in London. In March 2011, he moved to Rocket Carousel Studios, in Los Angeles, where the album was recorded. Mika has described the album as "more simplistic pop, less layered than the last one". He has also described the album's themes as dealing with the adult years. He has said that it's a serious album, but still has the boppy, happy tunes. The first single from the album is Elle Me Dit. This track is Mika's first track written entirely in French. It was released on July 8, 2011. The single has peaked at #6 on the French iTunes Charts.

Looking forward to the album!

Breathe

Just a minute ago, Kylie Minogue posted a new video to her Facebook wall, in which she sings her vintage song Breathe, backstage during the Aphrodite Les Folies Tour. It's a really cool acoustic version of the song.

Between reality and fantasy

MTV premiered their brand new Video Music Awards commercial featuring Lady Gaga last night. The black-and-white promo ad is filled with scenes of Gaga and her friends partying and dancing to “Government Hooker” and “Heavy Metal Lover” from Born This Way.

“I really wanted it to be real, and I knew that MTV wanted it to be a true documentation of my life, and as someone that lives halfway between reality and fantasy, so do all my friends,” she told MTV. “So I felt it would be an injustice to not sort of honor them in this short film that we did.”

Joris en de draak

As I wrote earlier, my mother and I went to De Efteling on Wednesday. Their newest attraction is a racer rollercoaster called Joris En De Draak. I rode it, and it's amazing! It's so fast I could hardly believe it. Check out the ride in the video above.

Smoking hot

Check out these totally hot new pictures Jason Beitel posted on his Facebook page. Jason, for those of you who don't know, is Kylie Minogue's super hot dance captain. Aside from dancing for Kylie, he also teaches dancing classes, and works as a model.

Kylie The Albums 2000-2010

Kylie The Albums 2000-2010 is currently in the UK top 40 and available now. Featuring latest platinum selling album ‘Aphrodite’ along with ‘Light Years’, ‘Fever’, ‘Body Language’ and ‘X’ Kylie proudly presents this beautiful 5 CD box set.

The box sure looks great. Unfortunately I already own all the albums it contains, so there really is no need for me to buy it, but otherwise I sure would've!

Jurassic Park 4

It's finally official: there will be a Jurassic Park 4, and it will be directed by Steven Spielberg (he also directed the first two movies, but not the third one, which was obviously a less interesting movie because of that). At the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, Spielberg confirmed that preparations for Jurassic Park 4 were in progress, with a story ready and a script being written. Spielberg said that it would be possibly released "within the next two or three years", with a representative from Universal saying 2013 would be the preferred deadline for completion.

Great news!

Marry you

On August 22, Bruno Mars will release the fourth single from his hit album Doo-wops and Hooligans. The final single to be released from the album is called Marry You, written by Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine, and was produced by The Smeezingtons.

Hopefully, after this single, Bruno will release a new album. It's about time!

Just dance - live in New York

Please enjoy this video of Lady Gaga, performing Just Dance during her fantastic Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Papi

Jennifer Lopez will be filming the music video for her new single Papi under the direction of Paul Hunter, he also directed If You Had My Love, Feelin So Good and Love Don’t Cost A Thing for Jennifer.

Papi is one of my favorite songs from J.Lo's Love? album. It reminds me of one of her biggest hits ever, Waiting For Tonight, and I'm sure it will be number one hit single!

A message from Kelly

The wonderful Kelly Clarkson left her fans a little message on her official website:

Hey everybody,
I have decided that having two individual websites (kellyclarkson.com & kellyofficial.com) was a little confusing so we’ve combined our efforts to simplify everything. So starting today kellyclarkson.com is taking over! You can see all of my tweets (not that they’re groundbreaking), all of my blogs (whenever I feel like ranting or I find some great music), and any other news here on this site! Hope y’all like it! More to come! Can’t wait for y’all to hear the new single! The band and I are really excited and currently gearing up for this record! It’s gonna be a fun record to tour!
Kelly

It's going to be great to see her on tour again!

Deleted screams

Watch this cool (albeit short) footage of deleted scenes from Scream 4. Most of these scenes are from the trailer, but ddn't make it to the final movie. Hopefully some of them will be included on the DVD release!

True colors

The Home Depot continues to fight for equality! In June, Home Depot sponsored the San Francisco Gay Pride parade and festival. On a large flat-bed company truck, Home Depot proclaimed its "True Colors" with a large rainbow across both sides. Dozens of people danced and shouted pro-gay messages from the truck along the parade route. Home Depot also sponsored a booth at the gay celebration festival in San Francisco.

Home Depot is committed to supporting and promoting the homosexual agenda, including same-sex marriage. Unfortunately, they don't have any stores in the Netherlands, so I'm not able to support them, but if you are, please do so!

Pukkelpop stage collapses

6 music fans have reportedly been killed on the opening day of Belgium’s annual Pukkelpop music festival, a three-day event that draws tens of thousands of concertgoers.

The Foo Fighters and 30 Seconds to Mars were among the bands set to perform on the festival’s opening night Thursday, but with reports indicating that as many as six fans were killed when one of the concert’s tented stages collapsed, the future of the event is uncertain.

Pukkelpop is one of the biggest music festivals in Europe. Opening day attendance figures have been estimated at around 60,000.

Very sad news.

Opening act

On Thursday night, MTV confirmed that Lady Gaga will be opening the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. The show will air live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. on Sunday, August 28. With Gaga opening, I'm sure it will be another fantastic performance!

Final destination

Great news, horror film lovers! Final Destination 5 isn't even out yet worldwide, but the movie studio has already announced there will be not one, but two sequels. That means the franchise will continue until at least the 7th part.

I've seen every Final Destination film so far, and I really love them. Ultimately it's a true horror film, but the storylines are so clever and fresh, even after five parts. Bring on the next two!

More countries get Kylie 3D

Kylie Minogue fans in Brazil, Poland and Singapore will be delighted to know Kylie 3D – Aphrodite Les Folies is available in 3D at cinema.

Filmed over two nights at London’s O2 Arena – this stunning concert film features Kylie’s biggest hits including “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”, “Spinning Around” and “Slow” – along with tracks from her latest Platinum selling album Aphrodite. From golden chariots, via flying angels to a spectacular water-feature finale – this is an epic show not to be missed.

I've seen the show twice, and I'll be seeing the 3D movie twice as well, on September 9 and 10 right here in my hometown Groningen. Congratulations to fans in Brazil, Poland and Singapore for also getting the chance to see the 3D film!

Secret members' club

Adele says it was winning two Grammys for debut album 19 that has made people buy her music, not her singing and songwriting.

She said: "A lot more people were interested and aware of me after that. The Grammy travels worldwide. Every country has their own award but Grammys are special and everyone was very interested. It was weird because it was at the end of my campaign to promote 19 so I didn't really notice. But now I notice because everywhere I go it's my introduction. I feel like I'm in a secret members' club and I think I am going to get thrown out."

I don't think so! Probably, and hopefully, we'll be hearing a lot more from Adele in the near future!

New album

Robbie Williams has finished writing his next solo album - and reckons it's his best work yet.

Robbie, who is also planning a solo tour, said: "I wrote everything I needed to finish - aren't I a good boy? I know I like blanket statements about my music... but this album is by far my most consistent. We have an embarrassment of riches where singles are concerned... happy days."

I'm looking forward to both the album and the tour!

Protected reef

Coral reefs around the world are in trouble. An estimated 30 per cent are already severely damaged as a result of human influences such as development and overfishing, and global warming threatens to bleach thousands of kilometres of coral. Experts say close to 60 per cent of the world's coral reefs could be lost by 2030.

But Australia's precious reef systems could finally be receiving the protection they deserve following two momentous conservation decisions by state and federal governments this year.
First it was the iconic Great Barrier Reef, with an historic decision by the national government in December last year to extend no-fishing zones from five per cent of the reef to over 33 per cent, which equates to over 11 million hectares of marine park.

And now another of Australia's magnificent coral reef systems, Ningaloo Reef, has been given a greater chance at protection with a landmark conservation decision by the Western Australian government.

Following years of campaigning by WWF and others, sanctuary zones along Ningaloo Reef have been increased from 10 per cent to 34 per cent, and the marine park has been extended to include the whole of the reef.

W.E. cover

The first magazine cover devoted to Madonna premiering "W.E." at the Venice Film Festival next month is the one of Italian weekly "Tu Style" that features a picture of Madonna on a break on the set of her new movie in New York earlier this year.
"In Venice I will show you what I think about love", the headline says.
